Katy Fryd - Artist

What Katy Did

In the summer of 1998, Katy assisted Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey with their photographic photosynthesis work - Photosynthesis (Testament).

Heather and Dan were commisioned by Year of the Photo 98 and Hull Time Based Arts and their project was grown in situ in a disused Salvation Army Citadel, (previously an Icehouse) in Hull.

Katy mostly helped to clean the pigeon poo as best she could from inside the Icehouse and invigilated some of the exhibition but also got a chance to embed grass seeds into the wall of soil, under the expert tuition of Heather.

Katy saw the process of the creation of the image which used photosynthesis and could therefore describe it in more detail to visitors. To see more about work by Heather Ackroyd and Dan Harvey please visit their website.
